Beyond Sport Award 2019 shortlist
We're proud to announce that love.fútbol is among the four finalists for the Sport for Sustainable Cities & Communities category of the Beyond Sport Awards 2019.
This year’s Beyond Sport Global Awards Shortlist of 29 standouts covers 37 countries across six continents using more than 40 sports to positively impact communities around the world and to move us all further towards achieving the UN Global Goals by 2030.
The Sport for Sustainable Cities & Communities category recognizes projects and organizations that use sport as a way to make a community settlements or cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable; to create, build or improve infrastructure; or to promote inclusive and sustainable development.
"love.fútbol creates play spaces that are open, inclusive, and that since the planning phase, brings neighbors to the center of the process. Our project is a good representation of what we want for our cities: to be participative, people-centered, with strong networks that can collaborate to take ownership over the development of their communities", explained Development Director Breno Lacet.
We thank everyone who made this possible, from our own team to partners and communities that work hand in hand with us to make each project a reality.
This is the third time we take our mission of ensuring places to play for every kid to Beyond Sport shortlists. In 2009, we're shortlisted on the "Best New Project" category, two years after our projects in Guatemala. in 2017, love.fútbol was featured as a finalist in three different categories: Sport for Sustainable Cities & Communities, Best Corporate Campaign or Initiative in Sport for Good, in partnership with Unilever; and Courageous Use of Sport, represented by our COO Manoel Silva.
The 2019 winners will be presented at a ceremony hosted by SAP on September 12, in the company of sports stars and business leaders.
Beyond Sport is a global organization that promotes the role sport can play in creating sustainable social change. Over 10 years, they have united a movement for progressive thinkers to go beyond cultural, geographic, political and social divisions to create long term solutions.
The winners will be presented at a ceremony on September 12, in New York.
