Project in partnership with love.fútbol receives a Beyond Sport Global Award
Unilever's "Connected by the City" project, in partnership with love.fútbol, is the winner of Best Corporate Campaign or Initiative in Sport for Good in the Beyond Sport Global Awards 2017. The announcement was made in an official ceremony on last Tuesday, at One World Observatory, in New York City.
"Connected by the City" saw the renovation of two recreational spaces in the communities of Santa Marta and Cantagalo, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2016. Alongside the construction of the fields, the partner harnessed the energy generated by mobilization, to encourage communities members to attend socio-educational initiatives in the areas of Health, Entrepreneurship, Welfare, Childhood, and Youth.
Besides this award, love.fútbol was one of the four organizations shortlisted for the Sport for Sustainable Cities & Communities. Our COO Manoel Silva was also shortlisted for the Courageous Use of Sport award that showcases "individual bravery in the face of adversity, using sport as the platform to tackle complex social issues in areas of conflict."
