Cocktail fundraiser to support love.fútbol

Sports fans, soccer lovers, and community members are invited to attend the Cocktail Fundraiser being held at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, November 8th from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

The event will support the 10-year old organization, love.fútbol, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that engages and mobilizes communities to create, reclaim and redefine their own soccer spaces as sustainable platforms for social change.

Since 2007, local community members across Latin America, Asia, and Africa have dedicated over 70,000 volunteers hours toward love.fútbol projects where tens of thousands of children play every day.

“Back in 2007, in the pre-Kickstarter days, we held love.fútbol fundraisers at my home and at Lucky Bar in Dupont. It was our D.C. community that made possible our first projects in Guatemala. Ten years later, after 29 projects across 6 countries, it’s special to come back home to reunite with our original supporters and new networks, thanks to the incredible efforts of our board. Next year we plan to take on our first projects in the US and double our impact from 2017 when we reached 4,800 children with love.fútbol projects”, said love.fútbol co-founder and CEO Drew Chafetz.

The Cocktail Fundraiser is hosted by two love.fútbol board members, Alma Caballero, Latin America Policy Advisor, Covington & Burling, and Nicholas Sprague, love.fútbol Vice-Chairman and VP & General Counsel, Braskem.

A raffle will offer attendees the chance to win a soccer ball signed by Brazilian legend Pelé among other great prizes. For details regarding how to attend the event, enter the raffle and support the organization, please visit  www.lovefutbol.org/2017cocktailfundraiser.
